Web Accessibility and Compliance
Is your website
accessible to Everyone?
The Internet should be accessible and available to everyone! That’s why we work hard at helping business websites comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and World Wide Web Consortium guidelines on web content accessibility, WCAG 2.1 (AA) level. These standards explain how your business website can be more inclusive for people with disabilities such as blindness, motor impairments, visual impairments, and cognitive disabilities, among others.
With PeepShotZ Digital, you can be sure that your business website is always accessible to anyone with disabilities. We use cutting-edge, AI-based technology that runs in the background and has an easy-to-use interface, thereby allowing our system to optimize accessibility level constantly.
This advanced application remediates the website’s HTML and adapts its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by blind users and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
The ADA and The Law
→ Since 2017 ADA title III-related lawsuits have increased significantly. There were 816 ADA Title III lawsuits filed. In 2018 there were over 2,200 cases. That is an increase of 180%. Legal professionals have estimated that in 2020 there were over 10,000 lawsuits filed. (source: https://www.city-journal.org/html/ada-litigation-monster-15128.html
→ In 2021 there were 11,452 federal filings documented. Over the past eight years, there was a 320% overall increase in website accessibility lawsuits. Source: (https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/ada-title-iii-federal-lawsuit-filings-7822222/)
→ The cost of defending an ADA lawsuit could destroy a small or medium-sized business. The average ADA website lawsuit settlement comes to $35,000.
Disability profiles supported with our application
Epilepsy Safe Profile
This accessibility profile eliminates the risk of seizures resulting from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations on websites.
Vision Impaired Profile
This profile can adjust the website and make it accessible for people suffering from such visual impairments as Glaucoma, Tunnel Vision, Cataracts, and Degrading Eyesight, as well as other visual impairments.
Cognitive Disability Profile
This profile allows website users with cognitive disabilities such as CVA, Dyslexia, Autism, and others to focus on essential elements much more easily.
ADHD-Friendly Profile
By using this profile, people with ADHD and other neuro-developmental disorders can access the website by significantly reducing distractions and noise. This allows people to be able to read, browse and focus on essential elements more easily.
Blind Users Profile
(Screen-readers): If a screen-reader has been installed on the blind user’s computer, and the site is compatible with it, this profile can adjust the website to be more compatible with screen-readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA, and JAWS.
Keyboard Navigation Profile
(Motor-Impaired): Motor-impaired users can operate a website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter Keys. Other keyboard shortcuts include “M” (menus), “F” (forms), “H” (headings), “G” (graphics), and “B” (buttons) to jump to specific elements on a page.
UI, design, and readability adjustments
Font adjustments – Internet users, can decrease and increase the font size and font style family and adjust the spacing, line height, and alignment.
Color adjustments – Users can select various color contrast profiles such as monochrome, dark, light, or inverted. In addition, users can change the color schemes of text, titles, and backgrounds using various color options.
Animations – With a simple click of a button, epileptic users can stop all running animations. This can include CSS flashing transitions, GIFs, and videos.
Content highlighting – Links and titles can be emphasized as well as other essential page elements by the user. The user can also highlight focused or hovered elements only.
Audio muting – Users with hearing devices can stop automatic audio playing and instantly mute the entire website.
Cognitive disorders – PeepShotZ utilizes a search engine linked to Wiktionary and Wikipedia. This allows people with cognitive disorders to decipher the meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
Additional functions – In addition to all of the above, users can change the cursor size and color and enable a virtual keyboard, as well as many other additional functions.
Assistive Technology and Browser Compatibility
We hope to support as many internet browsers and assistive technologies as possible. We have worked very hard to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS, and NVDA (screen readers), both for Windows and MAC users.
There may be some instances where certain pages or sections are not fully accessible due to a lack of technological solutions. We will continue to improve accessibility by improving and updating options and features and developing new technologies.
The User Experience
For most users, The PeepShotZ Digital Access Widget will not change anything on your business website. The widget is turned on through the interface (or a screen reader if the user is blind). It appears as an overlay on your website once activated by the user. In addition, once activated, it will only appear during your user’s specific session. The interface will not change your website’s design, performance, or UI. The entire process is automated. In addition, no user data is collected; therefore, the PeepShotZ Digital widget will not affect your GDPR compliance.
